A Decade-Long Battle: How Compassionate Care Helped Remove a Persistent Tumor

He was found on the roadside, immobile and with a large growth protruding from his stomach. It was clear that he needed help, and simply abandoning him was not an option.

“Helen Summerfield-Brown” is a group of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to rescue and care for stray and abandoned animals. Recently, they found a poor dog in terrible shape and immediately arranged for him to be picked up and taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Upon arrival, it was clear that the dog’s condition was dire. He was not eating and it was evident that a tumor was causing him significant discomfort. The team at “Helen Summerfield-Brown” knew that they had to act fast to save this precious animal.

Midnight made it to the vet without any issues and was quickly given blood tests, X-rays, and an ultrasound. It was discovered that he unfortunately has a few issues to contend with, such as hookworms, anemia, and being malnourished.

Additionally, due to his critically low blood platelet levels, doctors were unable to proceed with surgery to remove the tumor as it posed a risk of death. Time was of the essence as the tumor was still growing, prompting doctors to conduct numerous blood tests to determine the optimal timing for surgery. Midnight holds a special place in the hearts of all who know him, as he is truly cherished by all.

Midnight’s late-night operation went well, and the growth, which turned out to be a testicular tumor, was successfully removed. The tumor was surprisingly large, weighing in at about 4.85 pounds.

“It was a real burden on his small body, but I’m relieved it’s gone now. Midnight, who managed to walk a little after the surgery, has really impressed us,” said the veterinarian. “We love this little guy and will do whatever we can to support him.”

Midnight is on the road to recovery and will be available for adoption soon. A big thank you to all who have supported Midnight during this time. Much appreciation!
