A heartwarming scene unfolded when a canine named “Puppy” was found after being missing for 40 hours, filling the rescuers and the relieved family with overwhelming emotions. What made this reunion even more remarkable was the credit given to Tino, a novice Search and Rescue dog who played a critical role in the successful mission.
Puppy, an enormous Great Pyrenees weighing 150 pounds, mysteriously vanished during a delightful horseback riding adventure in the picturesque town of McCleary, Washington. Filled with worry and uncertainty, Puppy’s devoted owner, Karen James, embarked on an exhaustive search for her beloved four-legged friend. However, after two agonizing days of fruitless efforts, Karen and her family decided to reach out for help and turned to the kind-hearted experts at Three Retrievers Lost Pet Rescue.
Tino, a valuable member of the Search and Rescue team, was specifically assigned to help the non-profit rescue organization locate a lost dog named Puppy. With great determination, Tino quickly followed the scent of Puppy and found him in a distressing situation – submerged in a muddy gully less than a mile away from his home. Puppy’s desperate state was evident as only his head was visible above the thick layer of muck.
The rescue operation involved the collaborative effort of three rescuers who worked meticulously to safely extract Puppy from his muddy trap. Three Retrievers Lost Pet Rescue proudly acknowledged Tino’s exceptional performance through a Facebook post, stating, “Tino’s remarkable skills were on full display today when he discovered this elderly dog stuck in the muck.”
Puppy’s predicament was worsened by the fact that his hind legs seemed immobilized, likely due to being trapped in the cold muck for several hours. With vast stretches of forest surrounding the area, it is highly unlikely that Puppy’s family would have stumbled upon him without the assistance of a skilled search dog like Tino.
After successfully rescuing Puppy, he was carefully placed in a wagon and brought back home, where his family was overjoyed to be reunited with him. James, one of Puppy’s family members, expressed his gratitude to Fox 13, saying, “Puppy was completely unable to free himself from the treacherous muck. If it hadn’t been for Tino, we wouldn’t have spotted him as he was far away from the usual trails.”
James continued, emphasizing the vastness of the wilderness surrounding their area, stating, “You can imagine the countless miles and acres of untamed wilderness out there that we would have had to search through. Finding Puppy would have been nearly impossible without Tino’s assistance.”
What made this rescue operation even more remarkable was the fact that Tino, after undergoing 16 months of rigorous training with Three Retrievers Lost Pet Rescue, achieved his very first “Walk up find” in his career. It can undoubtedly be described as a monumental success and a testament to Tino’s training and dedication.
