Canines have earned the title of being mankind’s most loyal companions and they seem to be designed just for us. Last year, the world was introduced to an exceptional golden retriever, named Narwhal. He had a unique feature – an additional tail that grew from his forehead, giving him the appearance of a charming “unicorn” dog.
While braving the bitter cold weather, Narwhal, a unique puppy, was discovered outside with another dog. Fortunately, Rochelle Steffen, the caring founder of an animal rescue organization in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, welcomed him into her home without a second thought. Upon hearing about the “special” canine in desperate need of assistance through a social media request, she knew she had to help. As Rochelle stated, “We were tagged in a social media request for help because he was special and had been dumped. All my friends and fellow rescuers know I love the hard cases.”
When Rochelle first laid eyes on Narwhal, it was an instant connection. She recalls feeling her heart melt and her face light up due to his infectious happiness. Despite the fact that his second tail was considered a rare birth defect, Rochelle decided not to have it removed since it doesn’t cause him any discomfort and he has no idea he’s different. Although Narwhal has been diagnosed with worms, he is otherwise healthy and loves to spend time cuddling and giving kisses. He also enjoys playing with other dogs, particularly Ash and an adult dog they rescued him with, often resulting in a big heap of playfulness.
